Ben Thornbury

My name is Ben, I am 18 years old and live in the small town of Malmesbury, Wiltshire. I am a very dedicated individual. Who has started my own community group within the area, Learning key life skills along the way.

I have been featured in many different newspapers and radio stations – BBC, The Guardian, The Sun and local ones as well like Wiltshire Glos And Standard and the Gazette and Herald

BBC – Make a difference awards 2023

It was an honour to receive a BBC Make a difference award in 2023, My Mum, brother and family were able to attend the award ceremony. This was after a very kind resident in the town nominated me for it. I won under the ‘Good Neighbour Category’

Blue Peter Badge

When I was younger I was awarded a Blue Peter badge for all the work I did for the environment here in my local town. This got me into a lot of attractions when I was younger.

Citizen of the year

It has been an absolute pleasure to receive a Citizen of the year award twice in the Malmesbury Town Council hosted ceremony – This is when the town comes together to celebrate everyones achievements.

Pride Of Light Award

Back during the Covid-19 pandemic, I started a website so that people within the local community could get support with prescriptions and people to run errands for them. At the time Boris Johnson picked up on it and I was awarded a Pride of Light Award.

BBC Breakfast

Recently I had the opportunity to go live on BBC Breakfast, This was to talk about all my work in the town over the years. I enjoyed talking in front of so many people.

When I started ‘Helping The Community Of Malmesbury’ – I never expected to have all the support I do now. Our aims were to keep the town clean and tidy for the benefit of all the residents. Our Facebook group now has 652 members and continues to grow.
